MERGE PAGES
There are several ways to setup your Merge Pages in Telitor
MS WORD. I will try to convey one easy and expeditious method
that I have actually tried myself.
I edited a transcript. I had also defined the speakers using
the Review Notes ( that button with the magnifying glass on
it :).
I pulled down the File menu and selected New (file). I was
presented with a bunch of choices (document types) and I picked
"Blank Document". Clicked OK and a nice clean blank
page was presented to me. No line numbers, margins. . . nothing
in my way.
I typed in the template of the Title Page inserting a <
(left caret or "less than" symbol) wherever I wanted
the cursor to stop for various variable names, etc.
When I wanted text to be indented, I first just typed it
on the let margin, then I used the very convenient "Increase
Indent" button of the Format toolbar and pushed it in
place.
In my case I did all 3 pages: the Title, the Appearances,
and the Index of Exhibits.
So now I had my Top/Top (or Title/Title) pages.
I pulled down the File menu and selected the
Save As command. In the Save as Type I selected Rich text
format (*. rtf ) In the Save in: (top) pull down box
I navigated to the ... \Files. folder. . until "MergePages"
appeared in the box. Clicked OK. From the File menu I closed
that document and I was back in my transcript.
I clicked on the Utilities [Utils] button of the StenoLink™
toolbar and selected Merge Pages. The file that I had just
created appeared there, so I double clicked it and voila'
there were my 3 top Pages.
But there were 2 problems: Word had put some 40 plus line
numbers on the left margin and a box around my Title Page.
So here is what I did.
I highlighted the 3 pages. Went to the File menu, Page Setup,
Layout. Picked "Selected text" in the "Apply
to" box, then clicked Line Numbers. . . and uncheck the
Line Numbering box. Got back to my transcript.
The Title Page did not look good with a BOX around it, so
I decided to remove it. I highlighted the Title Page pulled
down the Format, Borders and Shading, Page Borders, selected
"This section - First Page only" in the Apply to
box, and clicked OK.
That was it. Well, it seems a lot, but it is actually quite
simple.
