I have occasion to
work with couples from literally around the world who have their
weddings here in Seattle. The website is simply an efficient
means for couples to learn something about me and my wedding
ministry. It is not so much a "commercial" or advertising as
it is a source of information for those seeking help for the wedding
celebration. Jesus said, "Don't hide your light under a bushel
basket, put it on a lampstand, so that all can see". The
internet is in our own times, a sort of electronic lampstand where
we go for information on all sorts of thing.
There are over 20,000 priests in the U.S. who have left active
ministry in the church in order to marry. Over 140 in the
Seattle/Tacoma/Everett area. In the eyes of the church
our ordination does not disappear, and although we no longer
function officially as a priest for the Church, we remain priests
who are now married, and thus "married priests".
In addition there are over 100 ministers from other denominations
who felt called to become Catholic and Catholic priests.
They have been received into the Church and then were ordained and
now function as married priests in an official capacity in the
Church. For the first 1200 years of Church
history, we had a tradition of married priests, bishops, and
popes.........going back to St. Peter and most of the apostles.
You may find it helpful to visit the website for Celibacy Is The
Issue since it features ministry resources from married priests
around the country..............www.rentapriest.com
That website, like mine, is designed simply to give people who want
a spiritually oriented wedding a chance to become aware of the many
resigned Catholic priests who are still available to serve them.
Hope this clarifies this for you. We have a dozen
resigned Catholic priests like myself, who provide wedding and
funeral ministry in the Seattle/Tacoma area, averaging over 400
weddings per year among us.
